More trouble with my Car PC
Sigh ... I just got the new screen (Xenarc 700TSV) put in last week after my Lilliput died, but it hasn't worked reliably yet. I think I finally tracked it down to a power issue.
It's not running off regulated power. When the monitor is plugged into AC power via the DC adapter, it works great. However, when it's just plugged directly into 12VDC in the car, it works some of the time, but other times it can't hold the frequency and keeps scanning for the video signal.
The Lilliput was wired up the same way (without using a regulator) so maybe that's why it started smoking. Yes ... The Lilliput was actually smoking in April. Nice, eh? Too bad this power stuff isn't more obvious or easy to get right.
I sure would love to use and depend on my Car PC, but I haven't yet been able to since I installed it back in September '04.
